Two main regulations structure this field:

US regulations

Applying worldwide, it governs products manufactured or distributed from the United States.

European Union (EU) regulations

Specific to non-EU exports, it covers military and dual-use goods.

The ECCD report classifies products according to :

European regulations (dual-use goods, war material).
American standards (Export Administration Regulations - EAR, war material).
