Since 2002, Gaches Chimie has been instrumental in resisting a dominant cartel of distributors of chemical products.The result: Three leniency procedures and a fine of 79 million euros to the benefit of the French State. In particular, Pierre Gaches brought proceedings against the dominant position of Brenntag (summoned to pay 30 M€ for obstruction of justice) and prevented concertation practices between Univar and Quaron, the N° 2 and N°3 players in the commodity chemicals market at the time. Gaches Chimie advocates a culture of fair competition which respects the necessary regulatory frameworks.

After the AZF catastrophe in Toulouse, France, the already negative image of chemical products in the eyes of the general public only got worse.
